A Dance is a fashionable movement

Ballet inspired fashion is one of biggest news this season in womenswear with sheer flowing dresses and flouncy skirts so if you want to achieve this graceful look you should go to the source of this trend and study the ethereal elegance of prima ballerinas. A ballet photography book is a must-have for fashion lovers and stylists wannabes especially one that looks through a century of ballet shows such as A Dance by Alexander Barabanov.

A leading figure in the Russian dance world, art and ballet critic living in Moscow and London, Barabanov gathered a number of 120 stunning dance photographs browsing through ballet archives and contemporary productions' collections, which were edited to form a dance sequence. From the press release: "Rather than being assembled as an anthology, the sequence has in fact been ‘choreographed’ so the book is constructed to form a dance in ten movements

[...] It includes such gems as the unknown and never previously published image of Anna Pavlova posing in the sculpture studio of Boris Frodman-Cluzel in St Petersburg 1911, the young Nureyev's first performance with the Kirov and Baryshinikov’s debut;

[...] A Dance is a major work that follows in the tradition of Alexey Brodovitch's Ballet, one of the three defining photographic books of the mid-twentieth century (together with Henri Cartier-Bresson's The Decisive Moment and Robert Frank's The Americans)."

The photography book A Dance by Alexander Barabanov will be published by Jonathon Cape the present month on 17 March and will be put on sale at the price of £40.00. It will be available online also at Amazon.com
