30 Paar Haende, the fashion label of the University of Applied Sciences FHTW Berlin, presented its Fall/Winter 2008 collection at Mercedes-Benz Berlin fashion week.
30 paar haende (literally meaning: 30 pairs of hands) is the fashion label of the University of Applied Sciences FHTW, Berlin. It is both an interdisciplinary project, enabling students to put into practice studied concepts and techniques but also a well standing international fashion label, developing and selling two collections per year.
The aspiring fashion designers and the students of other courses, such as Clothing Technology, Fabric Processing, Business Administration, Communications Design, Business Communication Management and International Media and Computing, take part in the collections' development and marketing.
30 Paar Haende fall/winter 2008-2009
Its fall 2008 collections bring out sophisticated silhouettes, with an experimental design but very wearable, using only modern and high-quality materials. The 30 paar haende label is meant for the upmarket target of self-confident, strong and fashion-aware women of 30 years and up.

New materials?
Some of these styles are really very elegant, and I must confess that I am impressed. However, I'm new to this area of study; would somebody be kind enough to explain the drive towards modern materials? I'm partial to precisely those lovely old-fashioned fabrics that are so difficult to find these days...
(As an aside, I actually feel that a few of these designs fall to the fallacy of new-age self-indulgence: they're just a little tacky.)
Cheers,
Mucha
