Givenchy campaign: fall/winter 2009/2010

One of the rebranding initiatives of this season, Givenchy decided to quit the minimalist black &white aesthetic of the previous campaigns and replaced photography duo Inez & Vinoodh with digital photo artists Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Bringing their exuberant, innovative approach to Riccardo Tisci's edgy-glam fashion, the team couldn't be more cohesive. Lavish, aristocratic interiors/bedrooms of Ferrières castle oppose with sharp tailoring and dark looks in a Mert&Marcus signature surreal style.

Womenswear ads starring Tisci's muse Mariacarla Boscono, new-comer Ranya Mordanova, androgynous beauty Iris Strubegger have two "aces up the sleeve": Leonor Scherrer, daughter of retired couturier Jean-Louis Scherrer, declared to "represent France in all senses: the elegance, the aristocracy, the darkness" and Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima who is the very goth angel in the first ad.
Menswear ads feature male models Simon Nessman, Manuel Ramos and Jakob Wiechmann. Givenchy fashion accessories ad campaign - fall/winter 2009/2010 starring Iris Strubegger is shot by fashion photographer Mark Pillai.

Givenchy Couture Fall 2008

Riccardo Tisci has done for Givenchy what Nicolas Ghesquière achieved at Balenciaga: making the brand his own, giving it a young, modern, urban edge. Of course the classic Givenchy spirit remains intact through sharp tailoring and attention to detail. But the gothic-glamour style, biker jackets and head-to-toe one-color outfits are Tisci's signature.

Here is the ad campaign for one of my favorite fall 2008 collections: Givenchy. Using outstanding photographing skills of talent duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the campaign brings together Riccardo Tisci's muse and friend Mariacarla Boscono, first Indian supermodel Lakshmi Menon, "it" girls Lara Stone and Natasha Poly and 90s supermodel Kirsten Owen.

The Lesson

"The Lesson", a photo shoot featuring in this month's issue of Elle Romania, focuses on a post-modern Lolita look, inspired by one very well known absurd play. The February 2008 issue of Elle Magazine (Romanian edition) features a lovely fashion note inspired by Eugene Ionesco' s notorious absurd play "The Lesson". The ‘post-modern Lolita' look is easily built up with this season's key fashion accessories such as those superb platform suede shoes from Kenzo.

Givenchy Spring/Summer 2008 Ad Campaign

The spring 2008 ad campaign for Givenchy ready-to-wear line uses a baroque setting, lots of mirrors and the cliché duo of a blonde and a brunette. Riccardo Tisci's pal, Mariacarla Boscono, and it-model of the moment, Lara Stone, sport the spring/summer 2008 rtw collection's highlights: the knee-high gladiator sandals, metallic eyelet inserts adorning leather jackets and chiffon tops and the quirky bubble dress with oversize polka dot print.

Givenchy Couture Spring 2008

Givenchy Spring 2008 Couture Show, held at Paris on the 22nd of January, started with designer's friend and house mascot Mariacarla Boscono dressed in a sharp black doublet jacket and a molded circle skirt with a white frilled lining edging out. Givenchy Spring 2008 Couture Show pursues a new line. "Gothic Ballerina" is how Riccardo Tisci describes his latest couture collection for the notorious Parisian House.
