Along with her well-deserved Best Supporting Actress Oscar, Lupita Nyong'o should win also the award for best look at the 86th edition of the Oscars held on March 2nd. That stunning pastel blue, pleated Prada gown, with a plunging V décolletage, complemented by gold jewelry and a diamond tiara, made Lupita the belle of the ball. Daring V neck was quite a trend at the Oscars 2014, several actresses sporting satiny bias-cut gowns reminiscent of Golden Age glamour.

Another trend seen on the red carpet at this year's Oscars is the romantic embellished tulle gown in powder hues with very simple, retro-chic cut. I am very happy to see some very beautiful long-sleeved dresses on the red carpet.

Strapless dresses with a straight cut (and also mermaid style) were a safe choice this year too, with a bigger emphasize on structured details like folds, back ribbon or a waist peplum.

And another trend that I really like is the halter neck or the scoop neck column dress (or with a little flare) jazzed up by sparkling appliqué, sequins or lace-y cutouts.

Besides that gorgeous blue number from Prada, the designers that won their spotlight on the red carpet this year were Armani Privé, Atelier Versace, Dior Haute Couture, Elie Saab Haute Couture, Gucci, Calvin Klein Collection, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Saint Laurent, Naeem Khan, Vera Wang and Camilla Staerk.
