High fashion traditional Romanian blouse by Valentina Vidrascu

Valentina Vidrascu is a Transnistrian born fashion designer with a both emotional and esthetic attachment for the Romanian traditional blouse that inspired many artists and designers before – it has been famously captured by French painter Henri Matisse (La Blouse Roumaine, 1940) and turned into haute couture design by Yves Saint Laurent (1981).

Since 1997, Valentina focused all her creative and financial efforts to bring to limelight the Romanian cultural heritage, transforming an iconic piece of the traditional attire for women into high fashion designs. Hand crafted from sumptuous fabrics (silk, silk voile, velvet) with lace appliqué and folklore-inspired floral and geometrical digital prints, V. Vidrascu’s blouses and dresses have a luxurious yet romantic look.

Reworked to meet the contemporary fashion standards - low cut neckline, dramatic long sleeves, pleats and asymmetrical draping, in black and other non-traditional colours with highly stylized traditional motifs - they fit perfectly with the modern’s woman need for a special piece in her wardrobe.

All the hard work was worth the results for this independent designer: with a showroom in Chisinau and a concept store in Bucharest, Valentina Vidrascu’s creations have been regularly featured in major Romanian fashion publications since 2010 and in 2013 they were featured in the Issue One of fashion forward Tirade Magazine. On the designer's list of achievements I should mention the spring 2014 collection that was shown at Cotroceni Palace for a private audience.
