Whether it’s an on-film quaint picture or a mixed-media surrealist image, Erik Madigan Heck’s fashion photography has a unique and profound romantic quality. His recurrent clients are ground-breaking fashion designers such as Mary Katrantzou, Rodarte, Ann Demeulemeester, Haider Ackermann, Comme des Garcons, Kenzo, Dries Van Noten and Valentino Couture. At only 29 years old Heck also has a remarkable portfolio of editorial clients including TIME Magazine, The New Yorker, The New York Times, Wired, and Dossier Journal, along with many others.
Erik Madigan Heck uses both digital and photographic film techniques though he prefers the latter and his favorite mixed media practice is painting over the photographed images on canvas.
Born in Excelsior, Minnesota to Croatian and Northern Irish parents, Erik grew up fascinated by photography and inspired by beautiful surrounding landscapes, bohemian poets and impressionist painters. In fact, even today he uses his film camera received at age 14 from his mother for various projects. After studying philosophy and literature Erick graduated with MFA in Photography and Film from Parson School of Design in New York.
