Stylish footwear for men – winter 2012 trends

The classiest men’s shoe trends for the fall/winter 2012 season include classic British designs like Brogue shoes and Chelsea boots.

The shoes and boots of this season are surely the strong point of a stylish outfit; they don’t make an impression through quirk but more through luxurious leathers, finishes and timeless style. Surely, there are designers that want to impress by creating high-fashion footwear hybrids, but the best shoes display a subtle modern update on traditional styles.

The favorite material for this season is supple leather in black, brown and grey shades, suede and exotic skins have their place in this winter’s footwear trends and we can witness also a playful mix of textures and skins. The dress shoe for the autumn/winter 2012 season is the Monkstrap shoe or also the “double Monks”, a refined classic design with a strap and a buckle closure (or two straps, accordingly). Shoes and boots with buckles are best highlighted by slim leg trousers in fine fabrics.

Another big trend in men’s footwear for this season is the mod Chelsea boots, the tight-fitting, ankle-high boots that team best with cool looking jeans or with slim wool trousers. Also inspired by traditional shoes are Wingtip (or Oxford) boots, with multiple stitches and decorative perforations on their toe caps. They go great with winter attire and they smarten up jeans.

You can find casual Oxford shoes at Dockers to wear with your dark blue denim.

More relaxed styles for this winter 2012 season include the biker boots, a very slick version of this style that grab instant attention and must be worn with tucked-in trousers. There is also the casual footwear with thick sole inspired by chukka boots, creeper boots and other practical “work boot”- designs while the novelty is wearing them at formal, neat pants.
