Resort 2012 fashion trend: scarves and handkerchiefs

Resort 2012 collections are being presented in New York this June. These are holiday, party-time clothes and designers feel free to experiment but they also follow the leading trends for 2012.

Resort 2012 fashion trend: batik scarf dresses

The caftan, a holiday signature style, is this summer's ultimate chic sartorial choice so I wonder if these 2012 resort trends will become fashion hits for next summer. What first draw my atention was these batik inspired dresses, actually they look like batik printed scarves stitched together to form a fabulous beach cover-ups. Alberta Ferretti's designs look more like sophisticated city-chic clothes.

Resort 2012 fashion trend: handkerchief hem dresses

The second trend is the uneven handkerchief-hem (or the illusion of it - see BCBG Max Azria design) on a graphic printed frock. They somewhat recall the 1920s - flapper era - flouncing dresses, as you can see for yourself from these pictures of vintage slip-ons. So, what do you think of these new trends?
