I was looking for independent labels in the Fashion Design Community when I stumbled upon Erika Hendrix, a Lawton, Oklahoma based label founded in 2005 by Erika Bates. The portfolio can also be found on talent database and flickr. Born in Giessen, Germany, in 1984, Erika began designing and sewing shirts in 2002 during an internship in interior design.
Her flare for clothing design was acknowledged with fashion shows held at Hessen Fashion Day in January 2006 and at the Freibank Fashion Fair in March 2007. Her label expanded from shirts to dresses, shorts, jewelry and shirts for men. Erika Hendrix means handmade limited-edition clothes and accessories, qualities well spoken by the slogan: Unique and Stylish.
The blue and cream Victorian shirt ($75), the purple floral-jersey dress ($100), the salmon and cream lace shirt ($70), the lime green open-back shirt as well as those vintage cameo necklaces ($25 and $45) are just few of my favorites.
