The more affordable line from designer Vera Wang, the Lavender Label, had its first runway show, held on January 31st at Bobo, a town house restaurant in the West Village. Lavender Label's fall 2008 collection looks very lady-like with a fifties-sixties retro mood.
Luxe accents like fur details, brocade, feminine tailoring such as ruffled blouses, narrow three-quarter-length skirts and dresses, and retro touches of antique pearl necklaces, gamine berets and long braids summarize a very pretty collection.
Happily, all that prettiness was punctuated by modern pieces like those skinny jeans, the playful purple stockings or the silk dress with a panel of net and sequins down its front in Vera Wang's signature style.
