Roisin Murphy's erratic style

Europe's disco diva Roisin Murphy might not be a huge pop star (in fact I love she is not in the mainstream) but she is an untiringly muse for couturiers and an undoubtedly style icon.

Her fashion sense matches the eclectic music she's known for, a cutting-edge electronic, pop and dance mix, with references going from her idol Grace Jones to David Bowie circa Ziggy Stardust era.

Roisin Murphy's style

Murphy's unpredictable fashion choices for stage and videos as well as for public appearances are always eccentric with a constant taste for couture pieces.

She fancies avant-garde designers such as Gareth Pugh, Martin Margiela and also ultra luxury brands like Givenchy, Chanel and YSL, mixing them altogether in a unique look.

About her personal style, Roisin thinks it's ok to getting all (fashion) wrong as long as you stay true to yourself and she doesn't believe in (the need for) stylists.

Her signature style is captured by coats with oversized shoulders, feathers or fur boleros, fringed leather jackets, military touches, button-downs, all kinds of head pieces especially tall hats, berets and couture pieces. Even when she sports a girly outfit such as a sheath dress, or the most casual jeans she always adds one or two quirky notes.
