Susana Mercedes fashion house

In the ever expanding world of independent fashion designers, there is Susana Mercedes, a self taught couturier whose aim is to create a fashion label known for a distinctive look, beyond trends and also for redesigning special vintage clothing. Established in 2000, the Los Angeles-based fashion house comprises two clothing lines: Susana Mercedes original designs and the Restored Vintage collection.

The inspiration comes with exclusive, fine fabrics selected from small looms and textile mills all over the world. For the Restored Vintage line, Susana hunts for hidden treasures in various rag houses which she transforms into modern designs. Style muses are cultural/social personalities of the past with a great fashion sense(Anais Nin, Angela Davis).

Both lines are meticulously hand crafted, including the accessories: leather bags, belts and statement jewelry. The clothes are finished with luxurious 14 karat gold zippers, exquisite vintage buttons or brooches that give the entire collection an unusual polished, romantic look with a rock-n-roll feel. The importance given to each piece, smart details, simple, flattering silhouettes and one-of-a-kind fabrics put this clothing label in a new fashion category of its own.
