A bit of Alexander's genius

Fashion's "terrible child" Alexander McQueen follows in the steps of fellow couturiers and lends his brilliant talent for a Designer Collaboration with American mega chain store Target.

McQ Alexander McQueen for Target, released at the beginning of March, is a rock-chic styled collection that mixes McQ (McQueen's diffusion line) classic craftsmanship aesthetic with "a rebellious, nostalgic flare", having as muse the lead singer of the British rock band Duke Spirit, Leila Moss (yep, another Moss).

MCQ spring 2009

Leila has become quite an ‘underground' style icon and now, with her image printed on a McQ for Target tee, she's won her place on the "it" girls' squad. That's not a surprise; music-based youth subcultures have always been a huge inspiration in the fashion world. And for the British designer what matters are "people with the passion to make a lasting difference."

As for McQ for Target spring 2009 collection, gathering about twenty effortless looks "that women will feel confident wearing" hopes are it will extend a younger audience for McQueen's more casual, less expensive label.

MCQ - Alexander McQueen for Target

In tune with this season's trends it offers a number of wardrobe key-pieces (studded leather vests and jackets, skinny jeans and leggings with ankle zippers, mesh tops, full circle skirts, one-shoulder party frocks as well as tailored jumpsuits and cropped pant-suits) in cool neutrals and bold pops of color, all within the $30-$130 price range.
