Phoenix Art Museum - Digital Print Fashion

Category

  • All things chic

If you are fascinated like me by innovative fashion you might want to check out this recently opened show at Phoenix Art Museum called Digital Print Fashion. Opened on March 2nd it runs until July 14, the exhibition explores the fascinating creative ideas in digital printing, showcasing 40 revolutionary creations signed by contemporary designers including Mary Katrantzou, late Alexander McQueen, and Issey Miyake among others.

Digital Print Fashion Exhibition at Phoenix Art Museum, Arizona

Digital Print Fashion shows how the latest technological advances in print design changed contemporary fashion - thus sophisticated digital prints becoming integrating part of avantgarde fashion brands - but also opening new creative opportunities for every designer that sees the fabric as a canvas.

Another ongoing design exhibition is Fashion and Technology displayed at FIT Museum, New York. It runs until May 8, 2013 and shows the evolving relationship between emerging technologies and fashion design and production throughout history. It begins with designs of the Industrial Revolution Era and continues to the modern times witnessing the rise of the digital technologies.

Fashion and Technology - FIT Museum - 1920 to 1960

Highlights of the Fashion & Technology show organized by Ariele Elia and Emma McClendon include the Art Deco prints inspired by the emerging skyscraper city line of the 1920s, innovations in rubber and plastic that found use also in fashion accessories (see the leather and acrylic clutch bag) the Space Race inspired futuristic designs, the Cyber Space aesthetic of visionary designer Jean Paul Gaultier to Miuccia Prada’s innovative designs, one of the first couturiers to embrace digital technologies in fashion design.

Big Fish Umbrella

Big Fish Umbrella

I really enjoy buying crazy accessories that make me fill unique. It is an old obsession I had since I was in high school when I actually freaked out my folks with my two headed pencils or extra large cat.
