Rising stars at New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week saw some interesting collections brought by young labels like ADAM, Jason Wu and Rag&Bone. Adam Lippes is not new to the fashion world. Since his debut in 2004 the Adam + Eve label became well known and changed from a sportswear line to a casual-chic one.

For his fall 2008 collection, Adam Lippes chose to release the designs under his own name, in this way creating a new label: ADAM. The clothes may not seem unique but for me their sophisticated casual style looks very appealing. After all, Adam's career was shaped under the "tutory" of American classics Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta.

Jason Wu is the winner of the Fashion Group International's Rising Star Award for women's which he was honored with last month. Only 25 years old and five season in, this young designer has already reached a sophistication and sensibility level that I could only see at established designers. I just love those floral printed dresses, skirts and blouses, and how he mixes them with masculine tailoring. The colors are simply adorable.

Sharp tailoring is the strongest point of 2007 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, the designer-duo from Rag&Bone. Smartly cut suits and military influenced jackets with strong shoulders and brass buttons, the black toggle overcoat with an impressive high collar as well as the severe black leather shift dress are the best moments of the show...and my favorite Rag&Bone designs, of course.
