New take on nautical style

Ready-to-wear and resort collections have revived the classic nautical theme. Either retro chic or sporty looks they all played with horizontal stripes while the eternal blue, white and red palette enriched with new colors: purple pink, mustard yellow and black.

Chic navy blazers, sailor-style trousers are still in style but so are the “new-comers”: t-shirt dresses, turn-up shorts and bermudas, skinny pants. At Alberta Ferretti the classic stripped t-shirt morphed into a short jersey dress, at Jean Paul Gaultier into a long feathery gown while at Armani it shrunken into a bustier-top. Other nautical details include anchor prints and ship rope used as belt over dresses and stylish trenches.
