Minna spring/summer 2009 collection

The British Fashion Council ethical fashion show/exhibition at London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2009, Estethica, now in its 5th season, turned into the very epicenter of the eco-sustainable fashion industry in UK.

One of the best newcomers in this community of fair-trade, eco and ethical fashion design is young fashion label Minna, an example of edgy design and eco passion mix.

Minna spring 2009 collection

Finnish/French designer duo Minna Hepburn and Maguy de Chadirac showcased a collection of lovely tops and dresses made from Scottish lace (usually used for curtains or tablecloths) and organic, fair-trade cotton; all adorn with vintage buttons, brooches or old macramé and needle work.

The idea of this label started from Minna Hepburn's passion for antique market finds, beautiful textiles and lace. Later joined designer Maguy de Chadirac, with an impressive Haute Couture background (she worked for Louis Vuitton, Sonia Rykiel, Jean Paul Gaultier and Hermes), who brought high expertise pattern cutting and attention to detail making each Minna piece unique.

Minna SS09 collection

All Mina designs are handmade in the UK and the remnants are all used for embellishment in the honorable attempt to minimize the impact on the environment by using organic, fair-trade and recycled materials.
