Check out the Lacoste Spring Summer 2022 collection

Louise Trotter's continuing interest in sports and culture informs her dynamic approach to Lacoste as a genuine cornerstone of French sportswear. The spirit of mobility, lightness, and utility is fundamental in her design approach, which draws inspiration from the world of tennis - the brand's very lifeblood – to cycling, basketball, and other city sports. The Lacoste Spring Summer 2022 collection blurs the barriers between performance and aesthetics for a simplified approach to summer in the city by examining the confluence of athletic outfits with our everyday life.

When it comes to the personality of athletes, essential silhouettes show surface innovation and contrasting features heightened with a technological polish, from René Lacoste and his tennis partner, Suzanne Lenglen's elegant portraits in the Roaring Twenties to Peter Sutherland and Philippe Bialobos' rhythmic documentation of urban bike couriers in the 2000s, a call-and-response of sartorial and sporting tropes results in hybrid typologies and subtle nods to sporting subcultures. The shorts suits are made of neoprene piqué jersey, the pleated tennis skirts are made of frosted pastel rubber, and the Lacoste polo is reinvented in the printed mesh.

A new color study alters the perspective of classic sports references, emphasizing warm, brilliant tones of red, emerald, burgundy, orange, and acid yellow against the classic Lacoste palette of Lacoste green, navy, taupe, black, and optic white. Mesh logo paneling and vented inserts are used to explore garment aeration and ventilation throughout cycling vests, track shorts, and basketball tanks, while ergonomic perforations are laser-carved by hand into neoprene varsity jackets. Engineered knits are next in line, with fully-fashioned striped rib skirts and matching sets joining fresh variations of the trademark patchwork tennis sweater. Soft parachute nylons and gloss textures highlight games of transparency, combining with ghost-stitched embossed rubber outerwear and framis-zipped elastic anoraks for a sense of urgency and quickness.

Offbeat accessories, such as molded pool slides and jacquard knee socks, enhance the season's urban look, as do tinted shield sunglasses on neoprene straps, flask holders, and strapped crossbody messenger bags. Along with modular digital wristwatches, pastel carabiner keyrings, tennis visors, and the flat-brimmed 5-panel 'Girolle' cap in neoprene jersey, cutout trainers are traced with bungee cord lacing, emphasizing the young attitude.
