Shannon Toth's sultry muses

Inspired by the romantic atmosphere of 1920’s cinema, the circus world, and by the whimsical universe of Edward Gorey, Canadian artist Shannon Toth developed a unique, imaginative style ranging from delightful children's book illustration to oil paintings with symbolic darker undertones.

Born in Ontario, Canada, Shannon Toth studied illustration at Sheridan College in Oakville, and today her client portfolio gathers impressive names like Usborne Publishing, Nippon Paint, Fashion Weekly Beijing, Drawing Dreams Foundation, Taiwan DPI Magazine or Ocean Media Group. The artist's professional resume mentions works exhibited in New York, Miami, Beijing, Toronto and Montreal while her self-published children’s book “Creatures of the night” won the Applied Arts Magazine's Complete Book Award in 2011.

Shannon Toth's envisioned women, whether sketched in ink and acrylic or painted with oils, are full of character, mysterious and alluring. Wide-eyed, with luscious hair and delicate pouty lips, they are a mix of a fashion muse and vaudeville star; they are charismatic but elusive creatures accustomed to be stared at.

To further prove that Shannon's girls are quite special, Chloe Love painting, born of an intoxicating, sensual perfume was selected to be part of the Aroma Exhibition in Beijing, while the gorgeous Sueno Chica was donated to Drawing Dreams Foundation to be auctioned for charity, with the aim of purchasing art supplies for children in hospital. Shannon's favorite quote is ”Logic will take you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere" (Albert Einstein). With such a personal motto, I am looking forward to see this artist's future works.
