It's a fairies world at Lanvin. The spring/summer 2008 ad campaign features model Olga Sherer as the queen of elves. Alber Elbaz's spring 2008 collection was reviewed as the best collection he yet designed for Lanvin. Besides some androgynous looks inspired by men's tux, the dress was the star of the show: long, flowing gowns or short ruffled, feathered and embellished frocks, the colorful designs led the audience into a fantasy world.
The ss08 Lanvin ad campaign highlights the same idea: the surreal shades, the giant flowers landscape creates a fairy tale, a very mysterious and sophisticated one. I can't help thinking, though, that the image of filiform Olga Sherer posing in that gorgeous long, flowing, golden dress reminds me of a praying mantis. Well, maybe that's the whole point.
