The fall-winter 2008/09 ad campaign for D&G makes a fortunate step away from the tiresome images of care-free, partying young & beautiful people. The pictures shot by anglophile Mario Testino have as inspiration point old portrayals of the British royal family while the most of the collection itself was inspired by Helen Mirren in "The Queen".
The images, shot outdoors in dark, cloudy, Scottish country surroundings, illustrate a family picnic, with three generations of "good breeding" gathered around; all dressed in tweeds, tartans, paisleys and traditional knits wearing the D&G bags&other accessories of the season.
That stylish older woman and the two toddlers keep the pictures from looking like class pictures (maybe they should had diversified them even more?) and the farm animals (golden retrievers, chickens and horses) really liven up the pictures.
