Naja Conrad's illustrated women

Danish illustrator/designer Meannorth aka Naja Conrad is a talented artist who lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. With a MA in Visual communication (Denmark Design School) and a background in fine art (Copenhagen Art School) she was nominated and selected for " 200 best illustrators worldwide" 2007/2008, by Luerzer's Archive.

Rock Me Amadeus

Her work, displayed on various materials such as canvas, textile and paper, includes illustration, photography, painting, and graphic design (prints and patterns) with projects ranging from numerous fashion and lifestyle magazines, the clothing line Max Mara to an award winning children's book and her own brand, Meannorth.

The artist gets her inspiration from fashion, hard-core music and by the world around her, choosing women as her favorite subject, because they have so many facets: beauty, intelligence, determination, as well as strength. Each illustrated character is given a distinct personality: "I usually make up a short story or sentence of what my characters could say or think", Conrad says.

Naja Conrad has exhibited in the US as well as China and now her fashion-inspired illustrations are printed on t-shirts made by Advanced Minority (a brand who collects and produces art works on textiles) and put on view at the Art Space gallery in Vienna from November 7th until December 6th 2008.
